We are currently using the HP LaserJet 8100N for printing
some billing forms, about 5000 per day shared between
three printers.

We use the 2000 sheet feeder and the large output stacker
options.

We are starting to have some pretty serious problems with
input jams. It looks like we can get back on warrenty
service but it will cost $2k per printer to get there.

So we are thinking maybe we should do some shopping for
new printers.

I'm looking for ideas. We are doing black and white on
preprinted, perforated forms, single sided, one sheet
per customer.

Any suggestions on printers we should look at?

I would think you should look at Xerox and Kyocera but I can't recommend
particular model numbers.
