I have a problem to understand what is the relation between FSB and
BUS speed and Memory speed??

1)What is FSB? is it a physical bus? is it in the motherboard?? if
yes, why CPU manufacturing company say for example AMD 2.4 with FSB
133 Mhz, does that mean FSB is part of the CPU architecture?? IF yes
it is part of the CPU, should FSB match the BUS speed of the mother
board to get fast computer??

2) What does the BUS speed mean?? does it mean the speed of the
motherboard buses?? does it have any relation with FSB??

3) How about Memory rate or speed?? does that mean the speed of the
bus inside the memory in other words, the speed that is used to
transfer data inside the memory? How this speed related to FSB or BUS
speed??

Any help would be very much appreciated. Thanks

FSB - Front Side Bus - is the bus between CPU and Chipset. It will be set by
m/board settings and needs to match the CPU spec. The chipset needs to be
capable of handling the speed the CPU wants the FSB to run at. This is why a
m/board which will take a 266 MHz FSB AMD XP2400 (thoroughbred core) might
not be able to cope with a 333 MHz FSB AMD XP2500 barton core). You might
notice that the XP2600 has been made with two different FSB speeds - 266 MHz
or 333 MHz.
Memory speed is different. Chipsets are so clever now there is no need to
synchronise the memory bus speed with the processor FSB. So you could have
some PC2700 DDR memory, which clocks at 2 x 166 MHz (effectively 333 MHz)
running on a board with a 266 MHz FSB processor. A BUS is just the term for
a collection of signal lines. The FSB and memory bus are different. There
are other busses on the m/board, such as the PCI bus, which run much slower.
To choose the right CPU for a m/board, or the right m/board for a CPU, it is
best to look at the manufacturer's web site.
