2 monitors problem

I am using 2 monitors in some aoliccations, in display properties I use
option extend windows, with that I get bigger work area wich is on second
monitor for example application cool edit pro; the tracks are on first
monitor and toolbars on second the problem is that application and the whole
computer when is on two monitors bacame very unstabile maybe because i have
two different monitors LG and "daewoo" and on daewoo i have lower
resolution. does anybody have expirience how should i set this system to
work fine?

And, this is in Unix? Solaris? *BSD? GNU/Linux?
DOS FAT environments (95/98/98SE/winME)?
NT environments (NT3.51/NT4.0/2000/XP/XP Pro)?

Easy in the first four...!
