We have a Compaq Presario 7465 PC and would like to change out the
original Compaq monitor with a Dell LCD monitor.

Would someone be kind enough to suggest a video card suitable for this
upgrade? I am somewhat concerned about the PCI slot compatibility
since the 7465 is pretty old.

Thanks in advance,

First things first . . . don't even think about buying a video card until
you can confirm that the on-board video of your compaq 7465 can be disabled.
But if it CAN be disabled, I'd suggest you try an EVGA GF2 MX400 PCI format
card for it . . .

I recommended that one as it's cheap, good brand, good quality, and will
easily support the native resolution of any LCD monitor. There are better
cards for sure, but I wouldn't recommend spending more money on a PCI format
card when even *AGP* format cards are going to be obsolete soon.

When you buy the monitor, make sure that it has a plain old analog connector
on it. It would be nice if it had a DVI connector also, but analog is
necessary. -Dave

Thanks for your suggestion. Could not find anything about disabeling the
onboard
video, so the idea has been scrapped for the moment.
