i know it is a bit weird but my parents got this old 14" apple monitor. i build up a *new* computer from some hardware parts that are still working fine but are not the newest stuff anymore. the computer works fine, anyway (under OS Win 98).
now i plugged in the old apple thing and installed a standard super vga driver from my OS cd first. then i downloaded the latest graphics driver for the elsa erazor II graphics card. unfortunately the monitor refuses to run with more than 16 colors. according to the users manual it should do at least 256 colors at 640x480 pixels.
i worked through all kind of different drivers (for both, monitor and graphics card) but the problem stayed the same. i put the colors up to 256 and at the next start i just see strange stripes. only solutions seems to be to start windows in saved mode and put the colors back to 16 *argh*
did anybody have similar problems and found a solution? is the monitor too old to work properly a new 3d-graphics-card?
any hints would be greatly appreciated. if this problem belongs to "Graphics Cards" i am willing to post it there, too. Just tell me.
