The price differences are natural- I doubt they are refurbished. If you do some research on prices, you'll see that for a monitor, there is quite a big difference depending upon which company u get it from.
I am probably getting the VG191 too. I think the best place to get it would be www.mwave.com. It's a reputable website and I have never had a problem with them. Plus the price is $1045 for the LCD, about the cheapest I can find. I was hoping to find a site that had a student discount or something for that particular LCD, but have yet to find one.
just be sure and check the return policies. Mos tof the low end dealers have stiff return policies (like all sales are final). Presumably they don't actually stock anything but get it quickly from somewhere else...
I have heard good comments about mwave - but I think it will cost you 15% if you change your mind.
Be sure and post when you get your monitors so we can all salivate!
But they are useless. They can only give you answers. -Picasso, on computers.
Well, unfortunately I won't be buying anything until mid-summer, so it'll be awhile. But once I do get an LCD, I'll tell you guys how it goes. I'm pretty sure it'll be the VG191, unless anything else comes out that looks better before mid-summer.
Multiwave Direct is a real nice company, and has been around for awhile. My dad purchased our first computer there which was a pentium 120 with 2 gig hard drive (if that lets you know how long they've been around)
Welcome to the end of your life Mr. Intel CPU. Don't worry I promise its going to hurt.
MWave is a great PC store. I have purchased many PC parts from them. But, before you buy a flat panel from them make sure you read their Pixel Policy which states that a few dead pixels are acceptable. They will not allow you to return it for dead pixels, whereas other retail chains will.
I purchased mine from Compaq directly, and it was supposed to arrive today, but UPS pulled some crap and said they came but didn't....didn't even leave a note on teh door even! I hate that company, and if anyone in THGC works for them, quit- they don't belong as a company. I swear, they pull so much bs it's not even funny. Ruined my entire mood for teh weekend!
Well i ordered it from ecost last week then canceled.I paid for next day delivery, but they wouldn't promise me it would get here in time. (depends on when it gets process)
I went to pcmall and they promise me it would arrive the next day AM and it did, arrive next at 8:45am( I ORDERED IT AT 9:12 PM THE NIGHT BEFORE)
Ecost wanted $1045 plus shipping and handle fees no tax
PCMALL charged me $1079 plus shipping, no handle fee, no tax!
Ecost sent LCD (even tho i canceled before it was completely process)anyway, now i'm having ( i sent it right back)hard time getting it off my credit card! I must have called them 12 times!!!!I will never order from them again.
PCMALL was very very good and customer service is great!
PS:The LCD is incredible and that's with analog only!
I LOVE IT!

Thanks for the update. Please give us a detailed tour of your new screen - I think I am about to (drool) follow in your footsteps.
What was your previous monitor, and what card are you running now? I'm sure there are lots of things to like about it - anything you don't? Dead pixels, horrible gaming...can't go to sleep at night cos you're up watching the new screen..?
In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice; In practice, there is.
My original monitor came with my system 19 crt from Micron pc. My crt was great, ,but took up too much space!
My video card is Nvidia Gforce2 ultra 64DDR TV OUT (ANALOG ONLY)
The colors are much more vivid,i love it!
This LCD is beautiful just using analog( big difference) i threw in my friends gforce 3 to see how much better it look and i must say it gets better( not a whole lot but you do notice it)
NOT ONE DEAD PIXEL!!!
The potrait mode is great,i use it most of the time(great for forums)One click and bingo!
The software for tuning it is really cool, options for internet, printer, games, publishing , dvd/tv display, cad, business, video edit ,photography and a slew of other different choices for different printers.
Options for different lighting where ever the LCD is located.

Hi Bluerain,
i have the Viewsonic VG191 too. Unfortunally it doesn't work with the Gigabyte GF3000D (Geforce3 based Card with dvi).Which brand is your video card (Creative, Hercules, Elsa ...)? When you play games did you see any type of ghosting problem? Did you use the cable bundled with the monitor or you have buy another? Thanks a lot in advance.
I think my friends card was made by "leadtek" gforce3 Ti 500.
Yes, i used the cables that came with LCD and as far as "ghosting" no. I haven't played that much with games (had trouble with pc and was busy trouble shooting it) but when i did have the chance all seem well enough.
I don't understand why you can't use it with your card, you do have a DVI port. Am i missing something here?
