Hi Speed USB host controller question

Hi,
I have an external burner I use with my laptop. Win XP home, H.P. Pavilion,
AMD 900 MHz cpu.

When ever I plug it into the usb port I get this message,
High speed usb device is plugged into a low speed usb port, you need a Hi
Speed USB host controller.

Can anyone tell me if it's possible to add a high speed usb controller to my
laptop,

and if so, where to get one, etc.
