I have just upgraded from Mame .63 to Mame .99 (DOS) in my arcade
cabinet but am finding Mame 99 takes a lot longer to load the games
than the old version.

Even a game like Frogger is taking significantly longer to load. Have
compared the previous version's cfg file with the new one and can see
little significant difference.

Anyone else experienced this problem?

What could be causing this?

Have you got validity checks slowing down the system? IIRC it is MAME
-skip_validitychecks pacman for example

Gave it a bash and it has sped things up a little.

Still not loading anywhere near as fast as the old setup.

Weird one...

Kind of a different scenario, but I was having significant loading
slowdowns after upgrading using the Winders command line version behind
the MAMEWAH front end. Stuff took for-ev-er to load.

Rather than actually figure out what the problem was, I pointed MAMEWAH
at MAME32 instead. Yeah... a front end hiding a gui. Works great!
