Everytime I try to start the game, this is what happens...
Gets to the Valve logo screen, goes to next black screen with some writing on the bottom, goes to blurry screen cap with loading screen...
When it gets to this screen, there is an hour glass and after a couple of seconds, it turns to the desktop arrow pointer and soon after that quits to desktop. No error message, nothin'. And this happens EXACTLY the same and without fail every time.
Is anyone else having this problem? Stupid silver package! Bleh.
Had the EXACT same prob yesterday - Steam SUCKS A$$!
After a couple of tries, softboots and bounces I finally got my Bronze package to play - Yay!!! - for about3 hrs :-( until mem allocation errors starting REALLY screwing with my patience, mind and state of mind!
Loong story short - I reloaded all local game files from suck and running without a prob.
Oh btw - have u tried preparing the game files for offline access to play without a net connection ? 'Cause it sounds like steam has an issue while validating ur game files and patching or whatever it does

Thanks for any and all help.
My silver package is working fine. Upto the blurry screen crap with loading screen all goes well, it's supposed to be blurry crap, once its fully loaded the screen will change to a sharp ingame rendering of one of the game's locations (and it can be a different location when you load the game again).
When the hour glass turns up things turn sour for you. I have no idea how to help you if you don't list any system specs.
