I am almost finished building my 2nd cabinet and i am running into some
problems with the trackball and spinner since i used a newer version of
MAME. I previously used mame .66 and have had no problems at all with
setting up the trackball and spinner. Now i installed mame .89 and noticed
some new settings like "autocenter" and "digital speed" and i can't for
the life of me get the trackball and spinner to stop jittering on the
screen.

Here are the particulars:

Ipac2
optipac - serial cable
ultimarc trackball
oscar spinner
PIII 700
256 megs
all standard equip (vid/snd etc) just using this pc to test the 21 inch pc
monitor in the cabinet.
jumpers set to A-LO & P 1&2 serial on the optipac.
Mame .89 with a full set of matching roms.

The trackball and spinner both work perfectly in windows 98 se, as soon as i
try to use them in mame, no go. After several hours of comparing settings
to my 1st cabinet, looking through the FAQ's on ultimarc and the bug reports
in mame i found nothing that would help.

I tried playing missile command and got some strange results, i had the same
problem at first, then all of a sudden i could play it with little or no
jitter. Once i got to the 3rd level, that was it, back to the cursor just
shaking on the screen..... but i never changed any settings in the mean
time.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Thanx
