I REALLY need a new system (can you say 'Pentium III 500'). I've been
thinking about doing a fairly standard ATX mid-tower, Intel based
system for a while.
Tonight I wonder into Microcenter. They've got a sale on FIC's Condor
MicroATX barebone. I was playing with this little box, And was
pretty impress with the design and build quality. I got to thinking
that I should do something based on it. It has what looks like a box
stock intel 865G MB. It also has an AGP and two PCI slots, and a 200
watt PS.
My build up would look like this (as I threw it together tonight):
3.0 P4 800E (FIC claims it's Prescott ready)
1GB PC 3200 (2x512G) RAM
Seagate 160GB SATA HD
NEC dual layer DVD/CD RW
No-name ATI 9600XT based 128MB VC (don't really want to stick with the
MB built in graphics).
Mitsumi Flash card / Floppy drive
This is either a pretty muscular little box, or I'm just stuffing too
much stuff in a box with not enough space, cooling, or power. Then
again, this seems to be what these little small format boxes are made
to do.
