Building new system, does all this sound compatible? Still need to run some 32 bit XP programs (don't laugh), will probably stick with onboard video (VGA for a while)

Everything is compatible here. Though you say you need to still run XP 32-bit programs, but you are installing Win 7 Pro 64-bit? It may not be compatible, but you can run a dual boot system where you can boot into both XP 32-bit and Win 7 64-bit.

If you wanted, post here in detail what you want to use the computer for, and I can give you my recommendations of what would be best for your system (and your wallet!)

Thanks, ocassional video editing, encoding music collection, word perfect x3 (for wife, I use open office), old games (none to require heavy graphics engine). I want it FAST though, was hoping to run old software in xp compatible mode or virtual box, so I don't have to buy all new software at once.

Thanks in advance
