I have purchased two PCChips M848ALU motherboards, and are having a
problem.

It seems to work OK with an AMD Athlon XP 2100+ processor, but not
with an AMD Athlon XP 3200+ processor.

If I use the 3200+ it will only power on if the jumper (JP1) has been
cleared, and then reset. - It then auto detects as a 1100. I then go
into the BIOS (without making changes), and save settings. - When it
tries to reboot I just get a blank screen.

I have updated the one of the motherboards with the latest firmware,
but still have the same problem. (Although it detects my 2100+ at the
correct speed).

I have tried another 3200+ processor, and I am having the same
problem.

Anyone got any ideas ??

Thanks in advance,
Daniel

Do you have high quality ram? Perhaps you should try different ram?

Barton 3200+ is 400FSB, from what I see (specs on newegg) the mobo only
supports a FSB of 200/266/333, so even at 333FSB (166MHz) it's only
going to run like a Barton 2500+, 1833MHz.

_Model Name____MHz__(FSBxMult)
Barton 2500+ - 1833 (166x11.0)
Barton 3200+ - 2200 (200x11.0)

What is the Amperage on the 12V line on the PSU? , if it's only 10A I'd
say you need a bigger PSU to run a Barton at 2.2GHz (3200+) anyway.
