Hello. I have the HP ipaq 2210 and so far i'm satisfied enough with it
despite the quircks of PPC OS. Anyhow, strait to the point, I think i
may be using it for at least a couple of years (until August 2006) and
I don't really foresee a tempting reason to upgrade any time soon
(except perhaps a more stable and responsive OS? or it damaged or
lost), especially that the new models aren't really that tempting for
my use, so I have purchased the HP extended battery for it, the
3600mah one, as I plan to use it heavily for PIM, and the thumbboard
too.
The questions I have are :
1. How long could i expect the h2210 extended battery to last? and how
long into the future will i still be able to buy a replacement
battery? should I plan to purchase another one to cover me for the two
years period? what's the best way to prolong the life the a battery?
2. How good or bad are those Mugen batteries? I'm considering the
2000mah ones for the h2210.
3. the thumbboard, well, how durable is it? do the letters on the
buttons fade from heavy use? should I always cut my nails to make sure
i don't scratch them off faster? (easier to type with nails though).
Should i go ahead and buy another one just in case this one i'm using
right now fades or stops working right within far less than two years?
4. the connection it has at the bottom of the handheld for accessories
such as keyboards etc, will this be compatible with accessories for
the new ipaqs or should i go ahead and buy the belkin keyboard that
I've been eyeing for sometime before it's discontinued or updated to
be compatible with the newer ones?
5. new applications that come out and their updates, will they likely
be incompatible with the 2003 version of the os that's in the hp 2210?
6. is 2003 SE more stable than 2003 PPC OS?

1. How long it lasts depends on what you are doing with it. On the stock
battery I can go over a week for occasional PIM usage, but only 3 hours of
movie watching and a little less for wifi surfing.
If you do buy extra batteries, rotate them into use and do not let them sit
discharged. They will die, permanently. Charge before storing, and don't
store them for too long.
