Hi,

I just bought a new built system

Intel 3.2GHZ (775 CPU)
Intel 915GAVL motherboard
Seagate 200G SATA hardisk
DDR400 512M Ram
NEC3500 DVD writer

Temperature of the CPU at 55 Celsius even not running game, the motherboard
is also at 42 Celsius

Is it normal? Seems quite hot

42C inside the case (assuming ambient temp of 20C) is a
bit high. Not critical, but inside the case temps should
be in the mid-high 30s if possible.

55C for a CPU, may or may not be hot, all depends on the
CPU (and I'm not up on Intel products).

Also, the cheap thermistors in use on the MB/CPU aren't
very accurate. Get a digital therm or something
calibrated and test.

My office is currently 26C. One system has an internal
temp of 36C, one is at 43C which is a bit hot since it
has 6 7200rpm drives, the other is at 40C. Once it
cools down in the office a bit (to 21C), all of those
temperatures also drop 3-5C.
