I am now using ADSL boardband internet and a hub to link 2 PCs together to share one internet line. However, I am unable to sent file to my icq friend directly? Whats wrong with my settings or should I need to config something before I can do that.

Any assistance is highly appreciated

I've encountered this problem before but usually in receiving files. Question 1 is are you using a router and hub combination? I'll provide the answer in case you say yes. A router that uses NAT cababilities to allow more then one computer to connect to the net using one public IP has a way of shielding you from outside connections trying to get in. With files getting to you, you'd have to set up the router to either forward port connections to the computer you want to receive the files on, or instead of port forwarding you could put the computer into DMZ. DMZ allows for a computer to be completely open to everything on the net and can lead to serious security issues but the way I see it, dialing up with a modem also leaves you open, only difference is the speed of the connection and how you're connected. if you want to stay in DMZ, you should run a firewall program on the computer to help stave off hackers and such. You can get one from http://www.zonelabs.com. they have one for free but you'll have to hunt for the links a little.

Just in case, ask your friend if they can receive files from others. It could be that he's behind a router too and is not setup to receive files fully.

Yes, I made it past newbie w00t.
