Do you guys know any software that will detect what changes are made to your system when you install new software, it's generally used for imaging so you can tell what files have been copied over and what registry changes have been made. I used to have a copy but for the life of me I can't remember what it was called.

This program worked great for building images. It let you know exactly what was changed. Every file that was copied over, and every setting that was changed was captured. That way if it was a .dll error or something like that you could track it down easily. I really wish i could remember the name of it. If anyone has any idea what i'm talking about please let me know. thanks :D

System Mechanic has a tool which does exactly what you need.

It takes a snapshot of the system before you run a program, and after running the program it takes another snapshot of the system. From comparing the snapshots, it lists the changes made to the system.

Get system mechanic from http://www.iolo.com/sm/6/index.cfm

Check that webpage out. I believe I saw a free tool in there that scans the registry for comparisons.

I use Wise Package Studio when I create software images and that detects the changes for me. Though I'm not making full blown computer images at this time.
