Here's another alpha, get it at http://www.ttdpatch.net/src/

Not a lot of bugfixes this time, in fact most of the things reported
since alpha 33 will still be broken here (there were only minor issues
though).

The main reason for this release is that Csaba Varga has added a whole
new graphics feature, allowing people to make new town houses and
buildings, with the full capabilities afforded by the action 1/2/3
system. To use it, enable "newhouses on" and get a new house .grf file.

In addition, Marijn has written a new switch, "enhanceddifficultysettings
on", which at the moments allows you to set the number of industries to
"none" in the difficulty settings, to start a new random game with no
industries at all if you like the challenge.

Finally I've been working a bit more on dxmci.dll, the music replacement
DLL for Windows, after some input from "gulikoza". Now it will use the
Midi Mapper by default, so the music should sound the same as it did
without the DLL and not use the MS software synthesizer. Another change
is that now any error messages will be shown in-game, because the
previous version's use of Windows message boxes does not work in
fullscreen. This new version is still somewhat experimental, so at the
moment you can only get it here: http://www.tt-
forums.net/viewtopic.php?p=189923#189923

Have fun with the new features!

Josef.

All changes in 2.0.1 alpha 34:
- station prop. 09 (sprite layout) now allows both using newgrf
sprites for the ground sprite as well as TTD's sprites for the
station sprites; both are selected by setting bit 31 in the sprite
number
- new action 7/9 variable 91 holds current track type; only valid
while rail tool menu is open (e.g. when building stations)
- improved dxmci error handling (now shown ingame with latest
dxmci.dll version)
- by Csaba:
* mouse wheel now respected the lines-per-wheel-motion setting
in Windows
* new switch, "newhouses on" (-Xh) enables graphics for new
town houses and buildings
- by Marijn: new switch "enhanceddifficultysettings on" or -YD
allows choosing "none" for the number of industries in the
difficulty settings
- new switch "newbridges on" (-Yd) for setting bridge properties
- bridge prop. 08 had to be changed to 0D to make room for the basic
bridge properties year (08), min.length (09), max.length (0A),
cost factor (0B) and max.speed (0C)
- new bridge prop 0E sets flags for the bridge
- fixed station var. 42 (terrain type)

Great, will give it a go now. Also is there a test grf for the newhouses
feature?

Cheers

The newgrfdemo folder on the patch source site has a housetut.zip file
with a tutorial and some demo/test files.

Hi!

I experienced some difficulties with TTD runing Alpha 34:
The screensize seems to be somewhat messed up. TTD seems to adjust the
screenhight to same size as screenwidth. In my case 1024 x 786 on an AMD 800
MHz with an ATI Rage 128 Pro runing with Win XP SP2 and DirectX 9.0c.

I won't be able to see the status bar down at the bottom of the (game)screen
and some of the acctual "main window" - e.g. when a newspaper pops up, the
game will only show the headline and in case there is a picture of a
transport tycoon on the side of it, you'll only see half his face. The "big"
picture on the bottom of the newspaper is not to be seen.

These error happens in every possible graphic mode from Fullscreen to
Windowed and in Safemode. And adjusting my screen won't make it disaper
either. Which makes me belive it has something to do with the current patch.
Yesterday and with Alpha 33 the game was running fine.

However on my second machine (an P4 3.0GHz / ATI Radeon 9800 XT / WinXP SP2
& DirectX 9.0c) the game is running fine with Alpha 34.

I don't know, I guess I don't really seek help or a solution to this
problem, I just want to point out a possible bug...

Let me know if I can provide anymore useful input in terms of finding an
error...

Good night!

OK, I guess this is running in a window? Have you set the
"stretchwindow" switch to make the window larger? Check the setting of
that switch, maybe it's set to "on", which would try to make the window
1280x1024.

That's very odd. Does fullscreen work normally otherwise? I mean, does
it actually go into fullscreen mode when you turn it on?

It'd be good if you could experiment a bit, turn off or on some switches
and see if you can find out which one it is that causes this.

Dear Josef,
sorry for not responding quicker - for some odd reason my News-Server
wouldn't let me get any new messages, so I had to re-configure everything.
But finally I got back into the newsgroup so I can give you a follow up...

First let me re-describe the display problem: I downloaded the Patch (Alpha
34) as usuall via Andrés Zsogon's TTD-Configurator. The program added the
new switches ('newhouses', 'enhanceddifficultysettings', 'newbridges')
automaticly. After that I started the game - In this case as you guessed
correctly in a window. This was when I first experienced the "adjustment"
error. I run the OS at 1024 x 786 pixel on a 17" screen, but I set the
'stretchwindow'-switch to 1024 px to fit the screen. It was my first guess
that this switch wasn't set correctly, too. So I checked back in the TTD-
Configurator but everything was set correctly.

Before originally posting this bug I tried all 5 Disply modes of TTD and the
safe-mode check in the Setup. All ended up with the same result - the game
wouldn't fit the screen correctly... The width is fitting the screen
correctly, all icons in the top bar are displayed correctly from the
pause-button on the left to the questionmark on the right. the problem is
more in the window hights since there is quite a bit cut of from the bottom
of the screen.

I'm unsure if I can add a screenshoot to this, but if you want me to I can
email it to you - Just let me know.

Regarding your question: I checked/unchecked the new switches in Alpha 34
but in every possible way I experienced the same problem. I don't think any
of the previous switches / Aphas have something to do with it. I haven't
changed the System-config, ATI hasn't released new graphic drivers for the
board since 2001, the Win SP2 worked fine with Alpha 33 and DirectX 9.0c
even longer.

Sorry I can't be anymore precise what is causing the problem, if you have
any idea where the bug is coming from let me know and I'll try to test some
more.

Thanks for helping though.
