setup updates configuration files problem

Tim,

You have an application, perhaps even malware that you have not yet
located, that is creating a new wininit.ini file each time you boot your
system. Look for this file and its contents (it is a plain text file) may
give a clue as to what is creating it. I seem to recall that some McAfee
products can cause this problem.
