How do I download and epson perfection 610 scanner installation software

You can download it from the epson web site. You didn't specify any info like OS or the country you are in, so I'm assuming you are in the USA.

I didn't see anything for Vista or 7 and their site appears to be under maintenance at this moment.

Run the upgrade advisor and see what it says. That scanner may not be compatable with win7, especially if Epson end of lifed that product and stopped making drivers for it.

Epson along with most hardware large manufacturers abandon support for hardware after a few years and no longer provide updated drivers. I understand this since they have many models in the field and would have to develop drivers for each for any new OS, which they receive no compensation. Epson recommends you purchase Vuescan software for $39.95 which works with almost any scanner. It is a great product developed by a computer user (engineer) which wanted better features in the scanner software. It has been around for many years and is well supported. Your only other alternative is to purchase a new scanner.
