Windows Update won't download updates

Archived from groups: microsoft.public.windowsme.general (More info?)

It appears to download the updates in a flash. Much to fast to
actually download them then won't install them. Something is
definately wrong somewhere. I can't finsd anything that apples to this
situation in the MS knowledge base.
I've searched for viruses, adware, and malware using Norton, AdAware
and Spybot with no results.
Windows ME
IE6.0.2800.1106IC with SP1
Pentium IV
512mb RAM

Any help appreciated.
