I had my flirtation with Canon printers. Right now the Canon system is still
a work in progress, which is a disappointment because in many ways I really
like their recent printers. Their software is just not ready for prime time.

My recent experience (a very large for me project) is that for those of us
too challenged to develop custom paper profiles Canon just does not make
enough paper surface types or sizes. Even for the paper/profiles that Canon
has their profiles do not yield as close a match, at least for me, to the
(calibrated) monitor image as equivalent Epson paper/profiles on Epson
printers.

From what I have just seen Canon has nothing out of the box that can
compete with Epson Premium Luster or Epson Premium Glossy on Epson printers
using Epson stock profiles. For someone who has dropped $500 on an upper end
Canon printer best results will require much more tweaking than it
reasonably should.
