Anyone know where I can get Half Life 1 Source by itself?

I ended up buying the regular version of HL2 when it came out :(. Steam and Valve hasn't bothered emailing me back when I asked them.

As far as I know you cannot get it by itself. It is only available via steam and is part of the silver and the gold package.

I would only highly recommend it if you've never played HL1 on the old engine before. Hopefully the modding community will pick it up and give the game new textures. I've only just started playing it again, and there was one puzzle that was actually quite more fun to play than in the original (the room with the hanging boxes, where the physics of the source engine have quite some added value). Hopefully there are some of those "puzzles" further along (I don't know for sure because I never finished HL1 before on the old engine)

I bought the HL2 Collectors edition on DVD-ROM which came with HL1: Source, and I don't find it much of a experience increase over playing the original release. I mostly bought the collectors to have the DVD-ROM version. I quit buying CD-ROM games because I'd like to help promote DVD-ROM versions. I know it costs more for the publishers, but hopefully we can get more DVD-ROM games out there. The only other one I bought so far is UT2004 DVD-ROM.
I've said enough. :)

I just want the latest greatest damnit! ROFL
I can't believe theres not an option to buy HL1 Source alone. They should replace the old version which is still selling in stores.

Maybe you can get it through Steam. I don't know if you can get individual through steam. I hope you can, because I want DOD: Source

DoD:Source is also part of the silver package on steam (and gold of course). It's not included in your collector's edition? (That would be odd).

Nope, DOD: Source is not included in Collector's. Doesn't really make sense. So I hope I can buy it individually off Steam.

Maybe you can unlock it via Steam by entering your collector's edition key for purchasing the silver or gold package? I thought gold and collector's edition were more or less equivalent but apparently not? Another Vivendi-Valve anomaly it seems...

You are aware that it is "Veni, vidi, vici" right?

Also I guess one of them won, the other lost (Vivendi) that lawsuit regarding cybercafe contracts.

Combine the two and you get Daikatana. That's why I never play games on my cell phone, which is what John Romero got to work on after Daikatana, games for cell phones.
