Have real keyboard but screen keyboard keeps poping up

I have a Dell Axim X5 2002 with the Dell plug in keyboard.
I have the driver loaded and yes the keyboard works.
My problem is when I select a text field with the stylus in order
to type something in, the soft keyboard pops up and I have to
use the stylus to suppress it and then type with the hard keyboard.
Is there a way of keeping the soft keyboard down?
Thanks -Ron-

Ron,

I've seen this problem from several customers and I'm not sure what
the solution is on it. I know that, like any other keyboard, you
could always tab and shift+tab to move back and forth between fields
until you get to the one you need to fill out.

I'd love see to a solution to this too if someone has it. I've seen
this on HPs, Viewsonic and older iPaqs.

Probably the best solution to this is a no SIP SIP. You can find one at
http://www.phm.lu/Products/PocketPC/PowerToys/ look at the Ext. Keyboard.
You could also try selecting transcriber before getting onto a page that has
text blocks. The keyboard should still work, but Transcriber doesn't have
to pop up anything.

The best solution I've found is a little tonkle calleo "Zenokeyboard". Just
select it as your SIP prior to using your hardware keyboard. Works great.
Do a Google search -- you'll find it.

But of course I must be more difficult. I don't want the pop-up keyboard
when the plug in keyboard is present, BUT I need the pop-up keyboard
when I'm running light and am not packing the plug-in keyboard.
can Zenokeyboard do that? Is there some quick switch in the app?
That would be great if it did.
Thanks

It's just a "do nothing" SIP. Just choose another one when the keyboard
isn't attached.

You understand you have four Soft Input Panel (SIP) options and the pop-up
keyboard is only one of them right? One, Transcriber, only shows a small
icon bar and you can even turn that off in it's options.
