For some reason a file I downloaded last night from Download Accelerator's
game site will not open, be deleted, or even moved from my desktop.
It's name is LSLMCLTSetup.exe. On trying to open it I get an error window
saying it's "not a valid Win 32 application." On trying to delete it I get:
Access is denied. The source file may be in use."
Your help has always solved my computer problems in the past.
Thank you in advance for any assistance.
Jack

Try booting to Safe Mode and then deleting the file.

LSLMCLTSetup is Leisure Suite Larry:Magna Cum Laude.
This is the title of the game you tried to download.Sounds
like some part of the program is running in the background.
Hold down Ctrl and Alt on your keyboard, then press the
Delete key.Check the list of running programs in the box
that appears to see if the file in question is there. If it is then
highlight it by clicking on it,then click end task. Now try to
delete the file from your desktop.Hopefully it will be gone.
Now to check if windows is trying to run the file at bootup.
Click on Start, then click Run.In the box that appears type
"msconfig" without the qoute marks. In the next box that
opens, click on the Startup tab.Expand the box to full screen size and check
the list for any entries that relate to the file
in question.Untick any entries that are in the list and click
Apply then Ok.You will be asked if you want to restart your
computer.Click Yes.If the file is still there try to delete it again.

Thanks for responding, Mike & John.
To be honest, while waiting, I tried a Restore to yesterday evening's date
and that removed it.
I appreciate your assistance and will save your answers in my computer fix
file.

Always a wise strategy, which - more often than not - will get you out of
trouble.
