Changes to Display Settings Not Saved WinME

Hello

I have changed settings via the control panel but upon reboot they are not
saved.

This also happens with the background changes

any assistance would be great

These changes are made permanent when Windows does a normal shutdown. One
thing that can interfere is that - despite appearances - Windows isn't
really doing a proper shutdown.
