Gigabyte mobos: problem fitting ddr ram

I RMA'd 3 mobos back to the vendor with the exact
same symptom. New ddr ram would not work in those
boards. The ram seemed very hard to clip into the boards. I had another
computer with ddr ram in it, and
when it was down one evening, I tried that ram in one
of the new Gigabyte mobos, and it worked. Then I
tried the new ddr ram, and I could plainly see that the
ram simply would not seat in the slots no matter what
I tried. I kept that mobo, and sent the ram back. Then
I ordered Kingston ddr400 ( 1 gig pair ) thinking it must
be a "quality" problem with the ram. Guess what? The
Kingston ram did not fit. So, I called Kingston, and they
said that the Kingston ram should fit that Gigabyte mobo. The mobo is for
the AMD64, and the chipset
is nVidia ( not VIA garbage ), and is one of their best.
What is going on here? There seems to be a problem
in China with "standards". The mobo works fine with
ram modules from ADVANCED or VERITECH (
I think ). I have other ram modules that simply will not
go in the slots. Where is the standard .. the mobo, or
the ram ?

this could be a serious flaw, and your facts are lacking. So if your
not trying to keep the bridge from being crossed, fill in the blanks.

GA-K8NS revision F4 ( Nvidia chipset )
not the Pro version ... from Mwave.com

I suspect so too, and that is kind of ominous for both
Gigabyte and Kingston.

Both ram modules are ADVANCED ddr400

I'm reading around the web about this problem, esp with
Kingston "low cost" pairs. Mine were $160, and I think
that is the low cost pair. Most people seem to think it
is a speed or access window problem. I can tell with
these modules that the problem is one of bad fit in the
slots. The ram absolutely will not seat on one end. It
is too long ... and I suspect it is shorting in the connectors.
System works perfectly with the ADVANCED modules.
It benches at 19,800 with 3DMark2001. It is a rocket,
and runs all my games great ( Far Cry, Doom3, CODUO ). I was just hoping
that the better ram would
let me run at all "very high" instead of just "high" settings.
I have frame rates in the 100s using an ATI 9800 Pro.
So I have a first rate box, that is having no problems
.... except I can't seem to figure out how to buy top of
the line ram for it. Kingston says the modules should
work, and they are RMAing another set. I say the
modules don't fit in the slots, and somebody is futzing
the standards, and costing a lot of builders a lot of
wasted time and money.
