I need to attach a different driver to a new HP printer (HP's advice) but
when I try to do it I get an error message that says the above file cannot be
found.

Can I selectively re-install this file from my ME disc or do i have to do a
full install?

Also, can a full re-install be done without affecting all my non-windows
files?

Thanks for any help.

Finstall.dll is contained in DRIVER.CAB of the Win Me cab set and can be
restored using MSConfig | General | Extract File ... and following the
prompts. The "cab" files are in the Win9x folder on the Win Me CD and
also in either the C:\Windows\Options\Cabs or C:\Windows\Options\Install,
which depends on the media from which Win Me was installed although some
OEMs seem to have chosen to locate the Win Me cab set in other locations.
See MS KB129605 - "HOW TO: Extract Original Compressed Windows Files"

Finstall.dll should be placed in the windows\system folder.
