I haven't been around much lately. I've been working on OverVolt a lot lately. One big reason I haven't done anything with it for such a long time is that my level of web hosting doesn't include scripts. Without scripts I could not install a forum directly on the server.

I found a place that will host forums on their servers for free. The website is called ProBoards. I've checked it out and they really have a nice forum.

I created a forum for OverVolt.com and did some design changes to my website.

I'd like to invite everyone to check it out and join. I sure could use some help getting it off the ground. It would be nice to have the people I know here join me.

There are a lot of you who are savvy in different areas. If anyone's bored and would like to help out I'd very much appreciate it.
I need help in designing both the web site and the forum.

The direction that I'm going to go with the website is pretty much undecided this time. I'm going to see the direction the users and members want to take it. I think this strategy will be the best way to make the site a success.

Come on over in check it out. OverVolt

Hi, Russ. I hope you're doing well.

I dont think its for me, mate.

looked on your forums: looks like no one cares. As for that graphic at the top of the page...it could use some work...as well as the background. Secondly, I didn't even know what the website was about, until I went to the forum. Maybe should explain on the index

You are using dreamweaver, I suppose?

Reply to crizazykid2

What is money made of? Paper. --- WRONG. It's linnen
What is paper made of? Wood. ---- RIGHT
So money does grow on trees! ---- WRONG (see #1)

and NO it's FrontPage not DreamWeaver!

ROFL! I had to register just to respond!

Man lighten up! Also, get a colour chart and find some colours that go together! Your site actually hurts my eyes. The forum colours are offensive.

I suggest you look around at various webdesign sites and get some ideas.

Judging from your reply earlier, your going to fly off the handle at my reply too - I can't wait

Oh and, Die Newbie Die @ me

Reply to PigeonMessenger

I'll come over and have a look Russ. I'm had a quick look yesterday when I responded.

Mate, I'm not very creative and hopeless with web development but I'll give it a shake. I'll chat to you on Skype about it, eh.

LOL, discussed that with picxx...I think we found it was paper and linnen...but I didn't take the time to look it up.

Who is that made by? I haven't used it (I'm a noob in the web-making department).

Calm down there, buddy. It was just a joke. Looks good, just the home could use a little work--that's all I'm saying.

Front Page is made by Microsoft.

Any help would be appreciated.

No offense dude but that lil' paragraph shoulda' been held back until you had some content...something to show what their gonna get for their pennies...Kinda like what a dude at work did putting a water jug on the counter & labeling it "Donate to I.N.T.F.M." "I need the fookin money" lol the dude didn't even get reprimanded so his next offering was "Donate to the Clear water fund" as his pool filter died the night before

I also changed the web site. I still gotta do a lot of work on it.
I put another background and a couple of other things.

The forum colors are over the top for sure. When I found out how to change the site colors I got more involved in understanding what setting changed which part of the forum than I did in the actual Scheme.

I can put it back to default until I decide how I want it.

Done. Now you shouldn't need sunglasses.

Yea your right. The main reason I put it there was to get hosting that would support scripts so I could install a BB. I found free offsite BB hosting so I really don't need it now. The domain renewal is almost due but I can handle that.

That graphic at the top looks pretty bad...you might be doing that to have a quicker load time....but everybody has high-speed interent that would go to that site, right?

What do you like better:

current:
http://www.overvolt.com/images/LogoOnly.gif

or a cleaner version I made:
http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h103/crizazykid/over.gif

I can alter it to make it more like you want if you wish.

Reply to crizazykid2

That new one lookys pretty decent. You're getting a little snazzy at animating gifs in your old age.

Reply to PigeonMessenger

Thanks. LOL, for some reason I couldn't get the overvolt sign to be very clear as a jpeg (even at high resolution), so I made it gif.

Reply to crizazykid2

Yeah Russ. This is your site, eh?

I like the Red backgroundand the title is snazzy to look at.

But the print is a touch too small for my eyes mate - and my sight is very good. Need to jazz that up.

I like the blue tabs on the left. User friendly.

I've joined the forum Russ - just waiting my activation email.

Thanks Bill for the comments.
Your listed in the members section. You should be able to p[ostnow. If not give me a call.
I've increased the text size. Check it out and let me know how it is now. What browser are you using? See if the font size is at 100%. What does everyone else think of the font size. Is it comparably to most other sites?
I changed the back ground. I think it looks a little more professional now. What do you think?

I would much rather transfer this to the forum at OverVolt. The link to the proper forum is OverVolt forum discussion.

Umm, let's see....pretty much every home game.

'06 home schedule:

Sept 2 - Washington State
Sept 16 - LSU
Sept 23 - Buffalo
Oct 7 - Arkansas
Oct 14 - Florida
Oct 21 - Tulane
Nov 4 - Arkansas State
Nov 11 - Georgia
Nov 18 - @ Alabama (basically a home game, since we've never lost there. 8) )

Phuks cannot possibly live that down.

Reply to BomberBill

Well, while initially a misleading statistic because a) we didn’t even play from 1908 through 1947 because of a dispute, and b) the majority of the games have been played in Birmingham (a ā€œneutralā€ site), including 41 in a row, this is the record in Tuscaloosa:
1895 – Auburn 48, Alabama 0
1901 – Auburn 17, Alabama 0
2000 – Auburn 9, Alabama 0
2002 – Auburn 17, Alabama 7
2004 – Auburn 21, Alabama 13

We're months from the season, but I'm already expecting a good one this year in Tuscaloosa. Both teams should be pretty good.

Reply to Auburn9698

Ouch!!!!

What are you talking about?

Again: Puks must struggle to live that down!

They ever beaten you on home soil though?

I get it too when I used Internet Explorer. Something about the code and IE that isn't good.
I'll have to investigate and see what I can do to fix it. Guess I'd better take it down in the mean time. Actually it's only used by myself and my daughter in law and we can access email at the web host's site so it really shouldn't be there anyway.

Glad you registered. I can't find the charter member certificate that I was working on so I'll have to start from scratch. When I get it done I'll email yours. I think your like number 4 or 5.

Come on over and stir up a little dust on the forum.

Thanks

Reply to russell

Yeah, they have. In '99 and '01. We're 6-2 against them there.

Reply to Auburn9698

Shite me! Phuks must hate that stat every time you raise it with him.

Where is the Chief these days? I hardly see him around anymore.

Reply to BomberBill

Well, he's not totally irate. They lead the series 38-31-1. Dammit. He was around a bit today, I think. Busy working hard for money to buy more orange Auburn shirts with, though.

Another suggestion for your site: Center the page on the screen, those which larger monitors may[/u] notice that it is left - aligned.

I know. I haven't figured out how to do it on FrontPage yet. I may have to copy the code from another site.

Russ, I'm a perfectionist, and the image had my image had flaws. So, I fixed them.

new:

newest:

You see the differences? What image do you like better--with or without italics?

I can make the letters back to regular, but I think bold looks better.

I changed the bold/not, italics, bevel, and background color in the new image.

Reply to crizazykid2

It looks good, but the colors...looks like a belt buckle from a gay pride parade.

Reply to KingLoftusXII

But is I put warm colors, it wouldn't go well with the red background Russ has.

Reply to crizazykid2

Yeah Front page can be limiting like that. It's best to learn HTML, even if it just the basics like syntax. That way you can work out how to edit the code to fix those kind of problems.

That or download the trial of Dreamweaver (deleted)

Reply to PigeonMessenger

Russell, about your website. I'm going to try to offer constructive critisism, so bear with me. I know your website is early in developement, and there is only one person working on coding, but your website is horrendous. The look of a site goes a long ways, for miles in fact. I know myself that if I'm doing some research or just surfing, and I click on a site that isn't visually apealing, or interesting right off the bat, I click the back button. I would assume that most everyone else is the same way because they think that if you didn't put the effort in to make everything organized and nice looking, than you most likely don't have anything worth their time. This, is usually, the case and is more often then not those sites are run by "nobodies," with little experience. People like things that look good, obviously. If the colors are harsh and don't flow, you just lost a viewer. I would suggest a dark backround, like a dark grey that lightens a bit when it reaches the bottom, and the buttons to be a glassy dark green or dark yellow, almost a gold with orange tinge kind of like NewGrounds (hate that retched place, but it looks acceptable). Then you could make the table outlines like a silver or something. Just some suggestions. Oh and I tried to join, but I never got the confirmation key or whatever in my email. I'll check again.

Check in your junk mail. Hot mail has problems. It filters out mail you want and lets the junk through.

If it isn't there then either use another email service or let me know.

Hmm. Sounds like an interesting problem...maybe you have to have the same type of email address (ie: yahoo, hotmail, etc). I don't know a solution though...maybe, Russ, you should pm steve_sa or Fredi...they probably know how to fix it.
