Logitech Joystick issue, thoughts on possible replacement ?

Hey Everyone,

I've been having an issue with a Logitech Extreme 3D Pro joystick for a
while now. I've recently confirmed the problem on my gliding simulators. I
had to replace my mother board a few weeks back so I haven't re-installed
FS2004 and all my add-ons yet. When I plug the joystick in the calibration
is fine and has full movement. A few minutes into the sim movement to the
right and right rudder becomes limited and hardly moves. I've done a web
search and this appears to be a common thing with Logitech controllers. I've
tried uninstalling the Logitech software which allows manual calibration.
After a few minutes into the sim the same thing happens reduced movement to
the right. Pushing left gives full movement. The only cure I've found is to
keep unplugging/re-inserting the usb to reset it.

I was wondering if anyone knows of a fix that works. OR can recommend a
replacement joystick that they've found to be reliable. I've had the Extreme
about 2 years now. The only thing is I'm left handed so I'd be looking for a
stick/buttons that are comfortable with either hand.

Any thoughts would be great.

Cheers,
Rick

I have a Logitech Wingman Force 3D joystick which I've been using for a
couple of years and I find it works very well with FS9. The twist handle
controls the rudder from one side to the other as well as ground steering
and the other axis' work equally as well. If I had any complaint about the
stick at all, it would be the amount of play which has developed, which I
think is due to the force feedback feature (which I feel is not a necessity
for simming). I wish there was a way I could tighten the handle and
eliminate the play, but there doesn't seem to be anywhere I can do this.

I can't recommend a 'fix' but will suggest you make every effort to solve
the problem without replacing the joystick. I have a notion it's a software
adjustment, either in your machine or FS9, which you may incur even with a
new joystick. I suppose you could go out and buy another one and test it on
your machine.....if it's better, that's great.

Good luck,
Arthur

I had a Logitech stick for a while - once it was out of warranty, Logitech
were not interested; same fault as Rick. I eventually solved it by buying a
Saitek stick. No more problems.
