Zee,

You're welcome. Just to confirm that I've installed all three and in the
short time since installation have rebooted several times and seen no
problems so far. I'm not sure though when SP1 was released for .NET 1.1 -
I suspect some time ago and that for some inexplicable reason I'd missed
it. :)

Cheers,

Mike,

Ditto on the no problems after install.

And, yes, you did miss the SP1 release for .NET Framework 1.1 but not for
much.

It was released 31st May...

Cheers,

Zee

Zee,

I've realised I missed it because my only real Win Me PC is still running
IE5 SP2 and doesn't have the .NET framework installed unlike the version
running on a virtual machine on this PC which has IE6 SP1 and .NET
Framework. It looks as if I hadn't checked for updates on the virtual
machine copy since the .NET update was released possibly because I haven't
been using it much recently due to the drop off of posts in the Win Me
newsgroups.

Cheers,

Mike M

Cheers Mike.

There once was a time I got notified by Security Bulletin while it
still mattered! Anyhow, I shalle wait until I'm on BB again! And I'll leave
that typo in as it's fitting. If anyone comes to Cirencester they should
grab a meal at the (tudor) Fleece Hotel, Market Place! Lordy this 56k
dial-up crawls!

I installed the above 3 items with no problem. My problem is when I
installed KB891711 I had problems when I rebooted. What am I doing wrong?
Please use easy language.

Joan,

Its the update for SP1 not SP1 itself I was referring to. Zee has told me
it was released 31 May.

Cheers,

Mike
PS Just had my third (fortnightly) delivery from T. I'm now hooked and I
blame you for that. :)

Shane,

Hope the move went well and that you get settled down soon. When you're
in Cirencester look out for a guy called Andrew Carpenter who works at
Cirencester College and is a Security MVP. :)

The initial release of 891711 released on 8 March caused problems for some
users. This patch was re-released on 12 April and no longer causes the
problems associated with the first version. What to do? Return to the
Windows Update site and install the latest version.

Betty, you can easily confirm that the latest patch is installed by
confirming that the C:\Windows\System\KB891711\KB891711.exe file is version
4.10.0.2223, and not ....2222.
This patch is important and should not be neglected.

Mike, I have Net 1.1 installed as it appears in my Add/Remove list.
However I was not offered the Net SP1 update and it does not appear in
my Installation History. Have successfully downloaded the other two
updates. Do you have to go to a separate site for the Net SP1 update?

I've only ever installed .NET components on my Win Me PCs from the Windows
Update site. I understand from Zee that .NET 1.1 SP1 was released on 31
May and I installed it yesterday on this PC from the Windows Update site.
