I'm trying to print cardstock on my LaserJet 6L, and I'm finding that
the pickup doesn't grab even relatively light & flexible cardstock. It
works if I press each sheet downward to get it to feed, but I need to
print hundreds of sheets and pressing each one down in won't be
practical.

Once a sheet feeds, it prints fine. I have the 6L set to feed out the
front instead of out of the top, and there is no excessive curling or
any other problem. The only problem is getting the paper to feed in
the first place.

I'm not sure if this makes any difference, but a couple years ago I
applied the fix for the multiple-sheet paper feed problem. Everything
has been fine since then, but this is the first time I've ever tried
to print cardstock.

I'm not sure of the exact weight of the cardstock I've tried, because
this is a project for my wife and she supplied the paper, and the
weight of the paper doesn't seem to be indicated anywhere. She has no
idea what the weight is. But, the lightest-weight we tried was just
about as lightweight and flexible as I would think of cardstock as
being.

If there is nothing I can do to get my 6L to print this cardstock, can
anyone recommend a printer with similar resolution that will do
better? The 6L is 600DPI with interpolation to somewhat resemble
1200DPI. I like it and I don't want to settle for less resolution than
that. But, I don't want to pay a lot either; I bought the 6L used ($80
a few years ago) and would hope to find any replacement used and
fairly cheap too (I would look on eBay for local auctions). Any
suggestions?

Thanks,

Greg
