Current configuration:

Primary IDE Master: Hard drive (C drive)
Primary IDE Slave: DVD-ROM

Secondary IDE Master: DVD-RW

I am about to add a 2nd hard drive: any issues with simply makeing it a
slave on the secondary IDE channel (no apps or OS materials going on
it..it's for data only).

TKS.....

Having a DVD-ROM on the Primary IDE Slave will slow down your hard drive
(c:)

Stick the 2nd hard drive on Primary IDE Slave and
DVD-RW + DVD-ROM on the secondary master and slave

TKS:
Cookie's advice is incorrect. There will be *no* performance hit on your HD
installed as PM because of *any* IDE/ATAPI device installed as PS. You can
go right ahead and install your 2nd HD as SS.

Yea your right Art

I was thinking of older PC systems where the hard disk controllers don't
support independent timing.
