XP Hangs on saving settings whilst shutting down

Archived from groups: microsoft.public.windowsxp.basics (More info?)

My system seems to hang every time when I am trying to
close down and does it at the 'saving settings' window.
I am using XP with the latest service pack and all the
security updates.

Can anyone help?
