folder icons

Archived from groups: microsoft.public.windowsme.general (More info?)

A few years ago I changed an icon for the folders that use only default icons
[in windows explorer (cdrive)]. I tried to change it to another icon that I
liked better but I couldn't figure out how. Sometime later the default icon
came back until yesterday when I changed the icon for my documents with
display properties/effects. Now my icon is back which is great but I want to
use a different icon. I don't know how I did it and I have even tried to
search the pc for the icon that is being used thinking I could backtrack and
find it but I can't find it. Any ideas?
