I currently own (and have been happy with) a Samsung-built Lexmark E210.
Today I was pricing a toner cartridge and when I found it now costs $95 at
Office Depot. Since the fuser on these cheap printers don't last forever
I have to consider alternatives, which in this case would be a Samsung ML
1740, on sale (after rebate) for $99, and I have a coupon for $15 off a
purchase that large (which I suppose I could also apply to the E210 cart).
The Samsung 1740 appears every so often here with complaints, so I'd
appreciate hearing your summary judgement on how good it is, does it hold
up, etc. I'm using a computer that runs on XP Home.
In particular, how is it on graphics? The E210 renders color or gray
scale as rather coarse dots, probably because it doesn't have much memory
to do anything better. The 1740 has more and can accept double (?) what
it comes with. Is this a desirable addition?
Ever had any feeding problems? Has anything broken on your printer?
Has your failed fataly, and why?
In other words, this is a chance to say 'NAY" or "yea!", if you have an
opinion.
