There are now several companies which offer a basic router or a wireless router with integrated switch functionality for shared Internet access with 4 to 8 UTP ports.
Until now, I didn't find any test and/or comparison between brands of such small office routers.
It would very interesting to set-up a test to measure the performance and list features between the several major brands which offer a small office router.
(Suggestion for Tom's hardware pages?)
List of major brands which I known :
- AsusCom
- Dlink
- Edimax
- linksys
- SMC
- 3Com
There aren't really any "tests" that you can do for a router like you can with a video card or processor. What would there be to test? All you can go on is reviews really. I've always had good luck with Linksys routers. I use this one at home http:// http://www.newcomputers.net/detail [...] YSBEFW11S4 . Although at work I think we used to use 3com, but I don't think 3com makes routers anymore, I could be wrong. But I think it's just the U.S. Robotics division.
