Microsoft Basic Mouse (optical, ten bucks at O depot).

TweakUI shows mouse scroll dialogue ("Use mouse wheel for scrolling" ) greyed
out. Why? Can it be fixed?

Works fine in Win2K. Not greyed out, either.

Probably - try reinstalling the mouse drivers, after removing them while in
Safe Mode.

Not a hardware problem, then.
