Sony vaio vgn-ar71zu windows 7 drivers...for graphics cards

Have just upgraded to windows 7 64bit from vista 32 bit....seem to have installed most of the drivers apart from the graphics cards, have tried the sony site but no support is offered...the Nvidia site is not much more use as it says it doesnt support sony laptops as the drivers are bespoke to each notebook.

has anyone managed to obtain Nvidia GeForce 8600m GT drivers for the Sony Vaio VGN AR71ZU running Windows 7 64 bit.

I have the same Vaio as you and would like to go to win 7. Did you have any luck with your graphics driver yet?

The esupport site is a joke and Nvidia as you say doesn't help at all. What's to be done?

No not found anything yet, rebuilt it back to Vista and will continue to research and see if I can find a solution!

Already tried that...the laptop in question is not supported by them...plus the driver won't install.

Just to confirm before I try this on my machine, you installed this on a big 17" Vaio type VGN-AR71ZU ?

It's not one of the supported laptops officially but if it works - Alleleujah! It's goodbye vista.
