I just finished build a computer and I having some issues with Windows XP
Professional. After I installed Windows XP, I keep getting an "Autoplay"
window with a searching flashlight and a status bar showing up every 10
seconds or so. Also I cannot change the display settings from 800 x 600.
Other than that, it seems to be working fine.

Hardware installed:
Intel D915GAVL Socket 775 Motherboard
Intel P4 530 3.0Ghz 1MB Cache 800fsb SocT 775 HT
Corsair Value Select 1024MB PC3200 DDR (2 x 512MB)
Seagate 200GB Serial ATA HD 7200/8MB/S-ATA-150
XFX GeForce 6200 PCIe 256MB w/DVI/TV-Out
Majestron SBT-CR16W 16in1 Int Memory Card Reader
CD / DVD Rom
CD-RW CD Burner

I am sure I am having a conflict of some kind but I can not figure it out.

AutoPlay- is there a disk in the ROM? is the ROM constantly searching a
burned disk?

No, the CD ROMs are not constantly searching. In fact the autoplay window
apears where there is not even a CD in the drive. It is really strange. it
just appears for a quick second or two and then disappears and then come
back again a few seconds later. I even tried to re-install windows and it
did it again which almost tells me it has to be hardware related. I just
download the latest video drivers and I will try to install them tonight.

XP often comes up with a window everytime a CD or other removable disk
(Zip, Orb, etc) is inserted. Check your Majestron. Autoplay can also
be disabled for the short term.

When you make sure your video card drivers are correctly installed,
check your desktop settings--advanced--monitor; make sure you have at
least "plug and Play Monitor" selected...perhaps a monitor type which is
restricted to 800x600 max is selected. Also make sure you have the
correct #colors slected in settings (at least the 16 bit option).

Funny thing....... I just had the same problem and it turned out to be my 6
in 1 card reader. I don't have a clue what caused it, but when I replaced it
the problem went away.
