I have two drives in my system. One is 120G and the other is 160G. Can
I set up a 120G partion on the 160G drive and then use it in a raid
array and still have access to the remaining 40G? If yes can I create
two smaller partions on each drive and use them in a raid array? I
realize that a can only have one array with two drives.

For RAID 0 or 1, create the array in the RAID BIOS, then partition the HDs
as you wish. For RAID 0, you have to start from scratch to add another
drive. For RAID 1, you should be able to add a second HD and have the RAID
BIOS create the mirror.

If you run a hardware raid, you will lose access to, and use of, the
surplus 40GB on the 160GB drive.

If you setup a software raid, you can normally make use of that 40GB.
