Hi, soon I'll have added BDC to existing PDC and have question if there a
way to copy somehow some applications (e.g SQL Server ) from PDC to BDC
without reinstalling on BCD? I'm asking because later I'm gonna promote
that BCD to PDC and update to Win2k.

Second question I have is when I update PDC to Win2k what will happen with
BDC?
can it still be used as a backup controller or I need to update to win2k
too...But in Win2k
as far as I know there ios now such think like BCD.

thanks for advice

Question 1;
You will need to re-install applications you want on the BDC due to registry
entries that are created. It is not as simple as copying over the binaries.

Question 2;
You can have a NT 4.0 BDC in a W2K domain as long as you are not in native
mode. The BDC will function normally as the first W2K server will hold a
role called "PDC Emulator".

You are correct that if all DC's are W2K, there is not a BDC. All DC's in
W2K are writeable, different than NT 4.0.

But if BDC can be still running, will it still synchronize data with Win2k ?
An last thing, will internet access setting from PDC will be also copied to
BCD?
Just wander if I promote BCD to PDC do I need to change IP addresses or
promotion does that?
thanks
