Admin access from net?

Hi,

On the admin settings of my 804V I have not checked the "Allow a remote user to configur the device with http" box. However, sometimes, not every time, when I try to access one of the domains that are pointed at my IP, the router log on box appears.

The machines I'm using are all on the lan side of the router, so I don't know if the same would happen from the WAN side, but I certainly don't want WAN users to be able to adjust my router settings!

I also don't understand why, when calling a URL, which translates to the WAN side IP of the router, rather than the routers admin IP, it puts the box up in the first place.

Any ideas/comments?

Med venlig hilsen,

Try getting a friend to access it, or use a friend's PC to try.

your dns server knows the servers as the external ip. why would any server outside your network resolve your domain name to your internal ip. that would be useless. and yes, if you access the router from inside the lan, using the private or the public ip you will get in.
