Promoting BDC to PDC

I have a domain with a PDC and one BDC. The PDC has
crashed overnight, and now I am trying to promote the
BDC. The PDC was running RAID 0 and the second drive
failed. How do I promote the BDC without the PDC online?

Open server manager and ignore the error
you stating "domain wide changes cannot be
made" then highlight the BDC and click on
computer and promote to primary.

that is how it works, BDC can be promoted while pdc is offline.
administrative tools->server manager-> highlight the BDC-->choose promote
from the menu
