I retreived an old computer from the dumpster last week, it booted, etc.
P120 cpu, 40 megs edo ram, 4x cdrom, integrated video and sound, 1.2 G hard
drive, 3 1/2 " floppy.
Reformatted the drive and installed win98se, runs fine, all systems go, no
problems.
Next I wanted to see if I could get it on line using Juno's free service so
I installed
a network card, connected to my router, and downloaded Juno along with all
the updates for the operating system. So far so good.
I have a box of old ISA modems pulled from various systems, and put a few
in and eventally got a couple of them to work. 3 of them, actually. But,
here's
the thing, none of them disconnected after a call. To get them to hang up,
I had to unplug the cord from the RJ11 jack in the wall.
Any ideas on how to make ancient modems hang up properly?
TIA
Mike
