Hi,

I have a problem and I'm wondering if one of you experts can suggest a
solution.

I have a new website currently set up within my office domain (which we'll
call office.com). It is currently working within a virtual directory a
different site on our domain (say
e.g.http://othersite.office.com/newsite/index.php) and is hosted on our
webserver which has multiple sites on it (e.g. site1.office.com,
site2.office.com... etc.).

I want this new site to use the external domain I just purchased (we'll call
this newdomain.com). I understand that I need to set up a CNAME record in my
DNS administration of the newdomain.com - however would I be correct in
saying that "othersite.office.com/newsite/" is not a valid CNAME entry?

The other way I believe I could resolve this is by creating a CNAME entry
within the DNS for office.com which would create newsite.office.com, then
add a CNAME entry to newdomain.com which points to "newsite.office.com" -
*however* I don't have access to the DNS for office.com so this isn't really
feasible.

Any ideas how to get my newly purchased newdomain.com to point to my new
site within office.com?
