Case Fan Control

Hope my question doesn't show too much ignorance! - I'm cleaning up my
homebuilt machine (about 3 year old, Asus P4PE), and am confused as to how
my case fans should be hooked up. They all have the standard 4 pin power
connector (Molex?). I've got two in front by the hard drives, two in the
rear, one on top, and one on the side. They have all just been connected to
the power supply (Antec TruePower 430) that has "fan only" connectors. I
have the power supply fan plugged into my motherboard, as is the CPU (for
temperature monitoring). The MB also has a "chassis" fan input (tiny three
pin, same as the CPU fan connector), with nothing connected to it. I also
remember I had to "ignore" the fan/temp warning in the bios that the
motherboard was giving, that I believe was related to no connection here.

Anyways, these fans are always on.....is there some way I could be "tapping"
into the Motherboard chassis fan connector to let it monitor temperature and
switch the fans on as needed? With some of the fans? With all?

I recommend you buy a FANBUS and connect your fans to that, then you
can control the fans manually. BTW, you've got way too many fans in
your PC. All they are doing is creating turbulence inside the case and
circulating warm air. Tests have shown, and this is also what AMD
recommends, is to just have rear/top case fans exhausting heat. I use
only two rear case fans and my system is fine temp wise. It shows 28c
system temp right now and that is with an overclocked cpu too.
