Consolidating Server and Names

I have a server that I need to retire. I can move the data to a much faster
server no problem. The trouble is I have most of my administrators pointing
to shares on that server. If I move the data I will have to disrupt all my
administrators and re-point the local share. Is there a way to, in the
domain, tell the domain that machine x is also machine y and has the shares
they want? Some kind of alias?

TIA

How do you expect to move any data while it is in use?
You'll need to log everyone off of the server in question
and move the data. Next you'll have apply the perms or
copy the permissions. Finally you can use netlogon to
write a script to delete the share and re-map to the new
file server.
