Are Netgear FA331 Ethernest cards & K7S6A Motherboards compatible? I ask because after installing one the computer refuses to boot as normal...

The computer has 512MB RAM, XP 2000+, GeForce MX440, and is running XP Pro

The computer does boot, but after a lengthly wait, during which time the connection lights blink on and off a few times before XP Pro starts...

Any ideas?

I couple of ideas... not sure if they are good ideas. :)
Is the BIOS updated? (could be a conflicting IRQ)
Try a different PCI slot.
Then it could also be the NIC. Have you tried the NIC in a different PC?
I'm alot better at troubleshooting when I'm at the PC.

I ended it up taking it back to the shop and exchanging it for a D-Link card, which works without any of the aforementioned problems... Odd... I was told that it could having something to do with the Netgears power consumption (I have a 350w PSU), but even tech guy from local shop wasn't too sure....

And Netgears tech support just denied that any such thing would ever happen, and that they don't know of any such things.. so it must be something that I'VE done... typical..

I tried all of the PCI slots and even another Netgear card, none of which helped...

Thanks for the suggestions anyway

NIC does not use a lot of power. I think the Netgear NIC is broken.
