There are no step by step instructions in my Asus P5P800 or P5GD1
motherboard manuals. I installed the wrong CPU on the wrong board (want
RAID) and so I need to switch.

How the $#@$#@ do I get the little black pins to retract so I can lift the
heatsink off the motherboard? I did not twist the "screws" to secure the
heatsink so that's not an issue. How to drive the pins back through
without damaging the motherboard OR the heatsink is the challenge...

Help!!

You *should* be able to download a manual from the Asus site for your
motherboard in PDF format.

I *had* both manuals in my hands and I can't find anything about removing
a heatsink in either of them. Nothing on the Asus site. A light turned
on in my head and I headed to the Intel site - they had what I needed
without too much searching.

Thanks for responding.
